An Outdoor Fitness App Built Around Exploration

Marchh is an outdoor fitness app for recording real-world walks and runs with GPS. Movement comes first: a supported route produces activity information, and eligible closed geometry may add virtual territory and shared-map exploration.

The outdoor setting matters because usable real-world location geometry is central to territory. Marchh is not a hiking guide, trail database, route planner, emergency tool or turn-by-turn navigation service.

Start with an appropriate outdoor activity

Choose Walk or Run and carry the iPhone through the activity. Outdoor satellite visibility often supports more usable GPS than indoor or tunnel conditions, although buildings, trees, terrain and hardware can still affect the route.

The activity can provide route, distance, duration and pace context. These values are estimates rather than medical or survey measurements.

Let exploration follow safe movement

Connected public streets and paths can make a familiar area feel different when route geometry matters. A person can vary a turn or form a loop without treating territory as the only reason to go outside.

Current signs, access, weather, traffic, surface and personal condition control the route. The safest choice takes priority over an on-screen edge or planned shape.

Territory is a second-stage result

A route that closes around an area may be evaluated for virtual territory after Marchh considers location quality, geometry, integrity and conflicts. Completing an outdoor activity is not itself a guarantee of territory.

The shared map can preserve a digital consequence of eligible movement, but it provides no physical access or property right.

Use other tools when the outing requires them

Remote trails, unfamiliar areas and complex routes may require current navigation, access, weather and emergency information from appropriate sources. Marchh does not replace those tools.

This page is movement-first, unlike the outdoor-exploration-game page's game framing and the location-based-fitness page's broader category overview.

Review movement before the map result

After finishing, the recorded route and available metrics provide the first account of the outing. Review that activity separately from any territory outcome, especially if GPS conditions introduced a gap or offset.

Only then check whether Marchh created an eligible virtual area. This order keeps the outdoor activity useful on its own and prevents the game layer from obscuring how the device represented the actual movement.

Questions people ask

Does every activity create territory?

No. A completed activity does not guarantee a claim. Route geometry, location quality, activity integrity, territory conflicts and other Marchh validation rules can affect eligibility.

Is Marchh a hiking or emergency navigation app?

No. Marchh records supported movement and evaluates territory; it is not a navigation, rescue or safety service.
